The wood grain metal and aluminum process begins the same way Decoral’s decorative powder coatings -- with the appropriate high-quality pre-treatment. Prepared parts are then powder coated with Decoral’s specially formulated polyurethane powder. This powder provides protection against wear, abrasion, impact and corrosion and acts as the relief base color for the finalized metal decoration.

After the part has been powder coated, it is wrapped with a sheet of non-porous material with the selected metal decoration pattern printed on it using special high temperature inks. The specialized Decoral system transfers the pattern from the paper to the base coat to create the metal and aluminum wood grain.
